The world is wide.
Home runs deep.
This summer, we explore both.
Journey Camp is a 10-day summer experience where our children and students become explorers. Two journeys. One into the world, one deeper into the place we call home.

Ten days. Two journeys.
One summer they'll remember.
Every day at Journey Camp is a departure. Some days we travel into the world β standing at the edge of the Serengeti, exploring the GalΓ‘pagos Islands, discovering bioluminescent forests in Borneo, and visiting the film studios of Lagos. Other days we travel deeper into the place we already call home β the Fayette County Courthouse, Line Creek Nature Area, local working farms, and neighbors whose stories are waiting to be heard.
The Explorer Journal
Every camper receives a hand-bound Explorer Journal on Day 1 β a passport, a daily journal, and a keepsake all in one. It travels with them on every excursion, holds their nature prints and sketches, and comes home at the end of camp as a record of every journey they took. It belongs to them for life.
"Pay attention. Something good is about to happen."
Jonathan.
Jonathan is a Highland cow. He was born in the Scottish Highlands and somehow ended up in Fayette County, Georgia β which he will tell you is the best decision he ever made. He has been to the Serengeti, the GalΓ‘pagos, the rainforests of Borneo, and the studios of Lagos. He has walked Line Creek at sunrise. He has never once stopped being amazed by any of it.
He is the guide for Journey Camp. Not a teacher at the front of the room β the one who walks beside you, notices what you almost missed, and believes with his whole enormous Highland cow heart that every explorer in this room was made for exactly this journey.
"You were made for this."
Built for explorers who
learn by doing.
Small Group, Big Impact
Maximum 12 campers per session. Every explorer gets real attention, real relationships, and real room to grow. This is not a big-box summer camp.
World + Local Structure
We alternate between international journeys and Fayette County excursions all ten days. Explorers learn to see the wide world and their own backyard with equal curiosity.
Real Excursions
Trilith Studios, Line Creek Nature Area, local working farms, the county courthouse and cemetery, and a visit with seniors whose stories live in Fayette County history.
Virtue & Character
Each day carries a virtue β Courage, Harmony, Wonder, Kindness β and a word in a new language. Explorers don't just study the world. They practice becoming people who are ready for it.
The Explorer Journal
A hand-bound passport and journal every camper keeps. Daily prompts, nature prints, excursion sketches, and a graduation reflection. A keepsake, not a worksheet.

Ten days of real experience.
Worth every dollar.
Journey Camp is not a drop-in program. It is a carefully designed 10-day experience with real field trips, a custom journal, hands-on crafts, and daily lessons built around the same intentionality Southern Raised Learning brings to everything we do. Here is what $1,000 provides:
- 10 full days of structured, curriculum-rich programming (8:00 AM β 4:00 PM)
- 6 real off-campus excursions including Trilith Studios, Line Creek, and local farms
- A hand-bound Explorer Journal β passport, daily spreads, and keepsake pages
- Explorer Badge craft, friendship bracelets, suncatchers, and a take-home ceramic planter
- Small group of 8β12 campers with dedicated staff attention
- Character-building curriculum with daily virtue words in four world languages
Built for learners who
are ready for an adventure.
Journey Camp is open to all learners ages 8β11. It is designed with the same intentionality and care that Southern Raised Learning brings to the school year β which means it works especially well for students who thrive with structure, small groups, and hands-on learning.
Every Learner Welcome
Journey Camp is designed for students who benefit from intentional structure, clear routines, and a small supportive group. If your child thrives when they feel known and when learning has a purpose, this camp was built for them.
SRL Families Have First Access
Current Southern Raised Learning families register first. Friends and siblings of current students are warmly welcome. After SRL families have had the opportunity to register, remaining spots may open to the broader community.
A Safe Environment for Everyone
We are a school that knows diverse learners and we bring that knowledge to camp. We have real tolerance for the full range of how children learn and move through the world. Our commitment to every family is that we will protect the camp environment so it stays safe and meaningful for all campers.
A Note on Behavior
Because Journey Camp includes off-campus excursions and small-group community experiences, we ask that all campers are able to participate safely in group settings. Behavior that poses a risk to other campers or to the excursion experience may result in a camper being sent home. This is not a punishment β it is a promise to every family that the experience will be what we say it is. We will always talk with you first.
Ready to explore?
Fill out the form below and someone from the Southern Raised Learning team will be in touch personally β usually within one business day β to answer any questions and walk you through next steps. Submitting this form puts you on the interest list. It does not commit you to enrollment.
